Animations have become a big player in video marketing, not to mention animated explainer videos.

More and more businesses from all industries, like SaaS, fintech, and healthcare, use animated videos for marketing purposes.

As we believe that animations will continue to shape the future of branding, their potential is always worth discussing.

Recently, our CEO, Andre Oentoro, talked with the founder of UNmis, Anatolii Ulitovskyi, about how video marketing and animation can revolutionize branding.

We’ve curated the essential parts of the session in the following discussion!

Tools to create animations

Our animations are mostly done manually by our illustrators and animators.

The tools our team uses to create illustrations are Adobe Illustrator and Wacom tablets as a medium to draw characters or objects.

Our team also uses Adobe After Effects to process the illustrations into animations.

Do we use AI to create animations?

Our animators and illustrators always create illustrations and animations from scratch.

AI is only used for brainstorming and generating a visual direction or assisting in specific aspects of the animation process.

But, if clients want a quick result and lower budgets, we ask our clients’ agreements to use plugins.

Even though most clients accept this, plugin-generated animations have several limitations and can seem wacky at some points.

Do you have any tips to become creative and win more viewers?

In order to attract viewers, Andre suggested creating content related to the target audience.

So, understanding the target audience, preferences, pain points, and other demographic aspects is crucial.

Moreover, consistency and improvement along the way are also necessary.

How do you catch attention or hook audiences from the beginning?

Anatolii shared an interesting statistic that 80% of users left videos on YouTube after only watching the first 20 seconds.

To address and tackle this issue, Andre gave some tips below:

  • Be sharp in understanding your audience.
  • Create a specific and focused message in your video.
  • Include specificity.
  • Create engaging video scripts from the get-go.

How do our clients use animated explainer videos?

Most of Breadnbeyond clients use animated explainer videos for marketing purposes.

Some of the most used platforms to host their videos are:

  • Websites, including homepages, landing pages, and product pages.
  • LED screens on trade shows.
  • Billboard screens.

No matter where they host the videos, the size and resolution are essential to maintain high-quality and seamless videos.

What is the best video length for marketing?

Defining the best video length depends on the purpose and where to put the video.

“On TikTok, the sweet spot is 15–30 seconds,” said Andre.

Moreover, the ideal video length for YouTube ads ranges from one to two minutes.

However, some companies also use explainer videos for training employees.

In this case, training videos can go longer, from ten to fifteen minutes.

How to measure your video success?

Measuring success must always align with specific objectives.

For example, measuring the video’s success will be easier if a business aims to raise conversion rates to 20%.

Another case when measuring video success can be done simply is when it’s used for raising funding.

One success story from our client was when he got an investment from Meta after the investor watched the explainer video created by our team.

How can AI help you in creating videos?

Andre and Anatolii also discussed how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can amp up a video marketing strategy.

In video production, AI can help with the ideation process.

However, Andre believes that although AI has good potential today, it lacks creativity and originality.

“We showed (AI-generated illustrations) to our clients before, and most didn’t like them,” said Andre.

At the end of the session, Andre also talked about the future of video marketing.

Here’s the full recording of the webinar just in case you missed it:

Even though there’s a chance it’ll get replaced by something more immersive, videos remain versatile content and one of the most effective tools for businesses to achieve their goals.
