Digitalks #03. What Kind of Content You Should Create?
Let’s talk about the entire process of creating content to achieve specific business goals
Digitalks is a virtual brown bag lunch meeting by Breadnbeyond’s Digital Marketing team where all valuable information, feedback, ideas, seminars, and training sessions are shared.
Did you know that there’s at least 116 new blog post is uploaded every second? 500 hours of videos are also uploaded on YouTube in a second, too.
Internet users are constantly bombarded with content. Of course, they’ve become so selective.
It also means that it’s only getting harder for content marketers to make their content stand out.
So, how do you produce content that not only stands out but also converts the audience?
As a digital marketing specialist at Sevima, Natsir Arie shares some of his go-to tips.
High-performing content is…
As marketers, we are understandably doing a lot of second-guessing when it comes to what kind of content we create.
“Oh, this video is going viral”
“But, our partner wants this topic”
“Maybe nope. Our audiences seem to like this trend”
“So… what platform will we use?”
The questions are endless.
One pro tip that can at least narrow down your choices is: Create content that will achieve your specific business goal — whether it will bring more traffic, engagement, and relevance.
Keep an eye on the latest trends
Keeping an eye on the trees helps shape your approach and refine your tactics. There are two types of trends.
- Predictable e.g., Black Friday, Christmas Holiday, Movie Release, etc.
- Unpredictable e.g., COVID-19
So, it’s crucial to:
- Predict, be aware, and prepare (creating a content calendar might be necessary). It can help you organize and create quality content faster (without harming the quality and team sanity).
- Come up with unique, authentic, and memorable kinds of content
- Pay attention to your competitors.
Content pillar
Content pillars are 3 to 5 topics your brand will consistently discuss, amplify, and create.
Why do you need it?
It makes planning content so much easier, keeps your content organized, and “content consumption” experience much more valuable for your audiences.
Instead of simply creating a haphazard collection of content, content pillars bring order to what can otherwise be a messy process.
The overlooked
No matter how brilliant your content idea is, if you overlook these points below, it will not bring you anywhere.
- Right timing. Right timing makes audiences make decisions faster.
- Right channel. Right channels or platforms mean the right audiences — those who really interested in your content
- Right format. The right format creates a positive experience for your audiences.
Popular types of content
- Short videos
- Case studies
- Infographics
- Story-telling content
